My goal in therapy is to show you compassion. I hope that through my compassionate example you will learn to be gentle with yourself as you go through life transitions that make you question your life decisions and how you cope with obstacles. As you make your way through changes that could include family disruptions and loss, learning how to end addictions to substances, or adjusting to health problems, acknowledging ways you have been able to find strength and resolve problems will be vital to finding joy and meaning in your day-to-day life.
My approach with patients is to nurture positivity. By focusing on healthy coping I can help you learn new thought patterns that will support your growth and replace old habits of thinking that self-sabotage. Depression, complicated grief, and weight management can all be problems that warrant cognitive restructuring and celebrating small, “hard fought and hard won” successes that can sometimes be as simple as making it through the day.
As your psychologist, I consider myself a member of your team. My job is to see the positive in you that you may not be able to see so you can have the relationships you want to have with the people you love. I will work with the people in your life to find the sense of community we all strive for. I want to be a resource for you in order to help you reach your personal goals in life.
Learn to love yourself as you are with the help and support of a counselor who understands what you have been through and can help you find joy in life!
